Apricots growing in North Devon in June

Apricots on the turn

The apricots are beginning to ripen and turn golden orange.

This variety of apricot, ‘Tomcot’, is growing near the south facing wall of the former shippen (cow shed). This year is the first year it has fruited. Apricot trees take about 5 years from planting to produce fruit. This is spot on, as I planted the tree just after we moved in.

Roll on the middle to end of July when we should be picking our first harvest!

Read my blog about buying a Victorian farm house in Devon, England. What started as a dream of self sufficiency, is now a midlife reality.
